ABOUT

James is a student musician/composer currently studying for a popular music degree at the conservatoire Leeds College of Music (LCoM) with his specialist subject being composition.

James is a lyricist and music composer and has written material for both his solo performances and band performances. His solo material is a blend of Alternative rock and Americano. Inspired by Creedence Clearwater Revival from an early age, his tastes have also expanded to acts such as Silversun Pickups, Ryan Adams, Peter Gabriel and Beck.  His songwriting is motivated by the desire to tell strong, emotional stories that audiences can relate to. Since writing his first song at the age of 12 his style has changed and developed and will continue to do so. His song “Can’t Find My Way” was selected by Youthcomm Radio as a trailer advertising the Worcester Music Festival in 2011.His main instrument is the guitar and he plays both acoustic and electric and is now a grade 8 guitarist. He is also an experienced vocalist and can play both the bass guitar and drums.

James has been performing on stage since the age of 10 in both a solo capacity and band member. From 2008 at the age of 13 until 2012 he was the guitarist/vocalist/lyricist for The SJS Band a pop/rock 3 piece band based in Worcestershire. They won a number of local wards including the Wychavon W Factor and in 2010 were selected by Worcestershire Arts Education to represent the best of Worcestershire young bands on a tour of Holland and Belgium. They also did a live radio session for BBC Introducing in 2012 and supported signed artists including Eliza Doolittle, The Hoosiers, Missing Andy, The Struts and AllStar Weekend from the USA. Many local musicians and industry contacts remain impressed with James’s performances. ‘James has matured alarmingly quickly over the last couple of years into an axeman of total quality - with absolutely no frills or gimmicks.’ Andy O’Hare.

James is currently the guitarist/vocalist/lyricist for a 3-piece funk/rock band called Prism. They have played mainly local Worcestershire venues and festivals and are in the process of recording their first EP for release in 2015. Two songs have already been recorded at Tower Studios.
